Exam is around the corner *gasp*

So...are you ready for exam?

I guess that not many of us like exams. I am never a fan of one. I feel that as a student it is burdening. As teacher, I find that there are too many variables to determine marks. One can fell ill and cannot do the paper. Some may be too nervous until the information slips from their mind. Others simply can't do exam and there are many other reasons to score lower in the exam.

However, exam is a good way to 'force' us to remember and do our revision. Or else, as students, we never want to study and revise what the teachers have taught us.

There are some tips for the exam that I wish to share with you guys:

AND THE BEST ONE IS

It is not all about marks. Your marks can be lower than the previous exam but you may score higher and better in the sections in the paper. For example, your writing paper may be higher this time compared to the last test. Or you can now solve the Math problem that you can never solve before. For me, that is the best result in exam. 

So now, look for areas that you have improved on and want to improve on, and do BETTER. Be the better person that you know you are.

Is that all? Yes it is. But you need to know that it is very important to give them some motivational talk especially after a good 3 days of holiday especially for the young students.

So do your parenting the best that you can. Ask them for any obstacles that they are facing or even give them some tips to calm their nerves.

Iftar Perdana/ Berbuka Puasa bersama Homeroom MRSM Betong 2016

Makanan memang sinonim dengan orang di Asia. Seingat saya, semasa belajar di New Zealand dahulu, pensyarah saya ada menegur tentang perangai orang Asia yang padanya terlalu kerap makan. Mana tidaknya, setiap kali ada majlis yang dianjurkan oleh badan wakil pelajar, perkara utama yang dibincangkan semua adalah makanan. 

Di sana, kami tiada Homeroom. Jadi semuanya perlu buat sendiri. 

Cerita semasa berpuasa lagi kelakar. Selalunya kami akan berbuka di dalam kuliah. Apabila tiba waktu berbuka puasa, kedengaranlah bunyi-bunyi plastik dibuka dan makanan seperti kurma diedar kepada mana-mana rakan yang duduk berdekatan. Mat Salleh pula akan membuat muka pelik kerana mereka tidak biasa melihat budaya ini. 

Namun kami tidak pernah merasai kemeriahan berbuka puasa seperti yang dianjurkan oleh Unit Penyelarasan Homeroom bersama kerjasama Badan Wakil Pelajar. Jadi untunglah para pelajar MRSM Betong kerana dapat menikmati banyak juadah berbuka bersama keluarga homeroom masing-masing.

It is very difficult to part from family as it is our backbone, our comfort, and our life. We are always with them even if we are not usually in contact with them. Family is the integral process in our life. Therefore, when we are separated by distance and physical from our loved ones, the system that mimics family is created. 

Homeroom tries our best to cater to the need of students while they are growing up in the comforts of boarding school. 

Homeroom is where strangers meet, forged bonds and creates family of their own.
